Athlete of the week -  Hannah Szwarc

I first met Hannah when she was a 15 year-old grade 10 student at Charlottetown Rural High School. That spring she set a school record in one of the toughest fitness tests that occurs during tryouts for the Rural’s rugby program each year. The torturous “Corridor Stairs” test involves repetitively running a loop through the school that covers a total of 42 flights of stairs. Hannah covered the distance (and elevation) in a time that no female student had ever managed before (in her first year of high school).

At Court 6, Hannah brings a fierce sense of competition to everything that she does. When the clock is running, she is competing, as hard as she possibly can. It’s probably tough to find a more competitive person to WOD with (in a gym that is full of competitive people). But one of the great things about Hannah is that once the clock has stopped ticking, she seamlessly transitions into an incredibly lighthearted and supportive member who loves poking fun at herself. Well, after a few minutes anyway. -Coach Mutt
